Kristina's Pregnancy Journal

Weeks 38/39
~ Last Pregnancy Entry!!!

Well as you can see from the title, this will be my last pregnancy journal entry as I am set to be induced on this coming Monday, the 13th. I am actually about half way into my 39th week of pregnancy and as of Monday will officially be starting the 40th week! I know I say this time and time again, but where did the time go?

At my appointment on Tuesday, the 7th, I was dilated a little (he did not say exactly how much) but soft and effaced. He keeps saying how big this baby is going to be and when feeling around on my stomach said pretty much it is all baby. I was actually very glad to hear that! Of course we all know it can't be "all" baby, but every little bit helps. I had actually lost 1 pound when I weighed in, so that puts me at about 16 - 17 pounds total. I feel totally comfortable with that and feel I tried my best to stay healthy and not overdo it this time around. My doctor wants to go ahead and induce me as he feels this baby is considerably bigger than Kaydon, who was 8 lbs 4 oz. I am totally alright with this. I know it is a very controversial issue, but I have discussed it with Brandon and we both feel it is in mine and the baby's best interest. I am actually the first appointment on Monday, so I have to be there no later than 6:00 am. I have to call at 4:30 that morning, so I probably won't be getting any sleep that night, especially considering the Mavs play on Sunday night, so I will be up late watching them.

I have my bag pretty much packed at this point, except for my every day essentials such as hair stuff and makeup. If I do happen to go into labor over the weekend I can just grab those last minute items and go. I also have Colton's bag packed and Kaydon's bag. Kaydon will be staying with Brandon's parents while we are in the hospital. And speaking of Kaydon, I think he is FINALLY getting the fact that there is a baby in "mommy's tummy." I know he won't fully get it until Colton arrives, but he is starting to rub by belly and kiss it. He even said the other night that the baby smiled at him. It was the cutest thing ever! He knows the baby's name about 70% of the time when you ask him but if you ask him if he is going to be a big brother, he just says, "no, I'm Kaydon." But he will eventually get it come Monday. He also saw a bottle in the cabinet the other night and wanted to drink out of it. I really do not know how he knew that was for the baby, but he wanted it. I told him that was for babies and he said well I am a baby and started acting like one. Please tell me this is not going to be a reoccurring activity!? He has been off the bottle since he was 9 months old, why would he even want that or how would he remember. I guess since quite a few of our friends now have babies, he sees them drinking out of the bottle and puts baby and bottle together. I honestly think I can handle that type of regression as long as he doesn't want to start wearing diapers again. Not that I will let him have the bottle, but I would certainly handle that better than the accidents. I guess only time will tell!

Other than all that, nothing really else has been going on. I quit waiting for the beginning signs of labor or wondering if every little contraction, twinge, or pull could be it. I guess since I have an end in sight, I am perfectly happy just waiting until then. Besides, we have a fairly busy weekend. I needed to do something to keep my mind occupied and us on the go so I'm not just sitting around waiting for the hours to pass. I hope everyone has a great weekend and please keep the baby and me in your thoughts and prayers as I am sure I will be pretty nervous and anxious come Monday morning!

Until my birth story!!!
