Well, this week proved to be nothing too short of boring. The only real event that took place was that I had a nurse's appointment at my OB's office. The appointment was basically to go over all of my medical history. Now mind you, I have been seeing this same doctor for the past eleven years. He delivered my twins, dealt with my miscarriage and has seen more of my body that my own husband probably has ever thought of seeing. So I didn't really see the reason for the visit. However, they told me that they require it for each pregnancy. Ok, whatever!
So, all in all, things have been the same over the last several years since last I did this. Yep, still have family members who have diabetes, still have family members with high blood pressure. Yessiree, its all still the same.
After all was said and done, the nurse stated, "Well, looks like everything is pretty much status quo" and "not much new information". Ummmm, duh!
So, after about an hour, and a huge bag of information, a sample prescription of prenatal vitamins and information about all of the tests they'd "like" me to do I was ready to leave.
I do have to take some extra vitamins, just to make sure I'm getting enough. Obviously, I'm taking my prenatal vitamins, but I am also now taking a Calcium and Vitamin C. They also strongly suggested that I take the DHA supplement that is now available and gave me a sample of those as well. I was also directed to go have a blood draw done for all of the preliminary tests they do when you are pregnant. Lastly, they suggested I have the triple screen blood test done as well. Due to my age, they prefer I have it done. This is the test that tells you whether genetically your more predisposed to having a child with Down Syndrome. I refused this test when pregnant with the twins, and will most likely refuse it again.
Now, if I could just get my energy back and start feeling a bit peppier, I'd be a happy camper. I just can't seem to get enough sleep and my poor husband is really starting to feel it, as I just can't seem to keep up with the housework either.
Next week, I have no appointments, no nothing. Just work. Hmmm, maybe something fun will turn up.
Until next week . . . hugs and belly rubs!
