My name is Lizelle (27) and my husband is Corne (29). We live in a city just outside Johannesburg, South Africa. We have been married for 9 months and live happily together in our house with my brother, Nico (24) and our three cats, Daniel, Sanchez and Fiona.
I am an Accountant and Corne a Technical Manager at an IT company. We met through his sister in 1999 when I was 19 and he just turned 21. You can say it was love at first sight and we've been together ever since. We moved into a flat after about a year of dating and four years ago we were fortunate enough to buy a lovely house. Well obviously we did things the wrong way around but we finally got married last year June 11th after being together for seven years. You know what they say about the seven-year itch? Well it was a dream wedding and everything I could ever have hoped for. After all the planning and drama we have finally settled back into our normal routine.
But my life wasn't always so steady. When I met Corne I had just started studying part time for my B-Compt degree and was working as an article clerk earning very little money. Corne was also studying for all his Microsoft qualifications and working as a lecturer in the evenings. We had the bare minimum of household things when we moved into our flat, basically, a radio, a single bed and our clothes, but it was the proudest moment of our lives. We always had one thing in common. We wanted our independence and we wanted to work ourselves up in the world. And if I must say we haven't done too badly for ourselves. Especially living in South Africa where the cost of living is so ridiculous and the salaries you earn barely get you through the month. But what can we say, we live in one of the most beautiful countries in the world and anyone who's ever been here will agree.
After I finished my degree in 2004, I attempted to do my honors part time as well. Big mistake! Especially when working full time, running a household and still trying to have some sort of a social life. Needless to say I did not pass and decided that I was done studying, for the moment anyway, and took 2006 off, during which I planned our most beautiful wedding.
I always knew I wanted children and wanted the first before I turned 30. I just never thought it would happen so soon. But now that it's happened and we're over the shock I think we are both getting use to the idea of having a baby. Join me in my first pregnancy experience.
