~ Crunch Time
So, I had my 36 week appointment yesterday. Chris couldn't make it to the appointment, so I left Atticus with my father-in-law, who happened to be off work, and headed to the appointment on my own. After I got in the room and met with the nurse, my mom and oldest sister, Summer, showed up. It was nice to have them there with me. We all talked a lot and probably turned a 10 minute appointment into a 30 minute appointment. It was so nice to have some girl support though and we got the chance to talk about Summer's pregnancy too, as she is 15 weeks along and had just come from her own doctor appointment. My doctor said that I am 2cm dilated already and 70% effaced. I had hoped that I could make it to the in-laws Easter celebration a couple of hours away on Sunday, but he said not to leave town, just in case anything happens. Now I am really anxious! I wonder when Bristol will decide to make her debut!
Atticus is such a blessing and I am constantly amazed at how smart he is. He is talking a a lot these days. Last night he was fussing when I laid him down to sleep, which is really rare. So after a few times of me going back in and checking on him and him still fussing, he let me cradle him and walk him around singing to him. I would have rocked him, but we had just moved the rocking chair to our room so that it is there for the new baby when she comes. Anyway, Atticus never lets me just cradle him he is always moving and going, so it was so special for me to be able to have that moment with him, singing quietly and just holding his tired little body. Finally I said "Do you want your blankie?" and he said "Ya Momma." I told him "I will get your blankie, but you need to go to sleep because it's bedtime, okay?" and he said "Ahkay Momma, ahkay, ahkay." It was so sweet. So sure enough, the blankie was the issue and as soon as he got it he went right to sleep.
I am very anxious to see what Bristol looks like. Will she look like her brother? It is all of a sudden very weird to picture another person in our little family. I know it will be awesome, it is just weird to think of what a completely new and fresh person will be like before you even meet them. This will be a very exciting time and I am trying to soak it all in while it is here! It does go so fast.
