Week 21
~ Where's the Beef?

Yet another boring week here! I spent most of the week trying to rest since we are sick again. I started with a sore throat and slowly got congested throughout the week. I believe Tommy had a sore throat as well because for a few days he was crying a lot, including in his sleep, and nursing a ton! My throat wasn't extremely painful, but it was dry and scratchy with an achy pain. Drinking really helped soothe it so I'm sure nursing was soothing to Tommy as well. Mostly I'm just drained. I alternate between being ravenously hungry and having no appetite at all. I know I haven't been eating right because so few foods are tempting to me again. I feel like I live on cheese, strawberries and oranges some days. I guess there are worse things though! Every few days I start to crave steak! I couldn't eat any meat at first, and then it was only chicken. Now I can't go near chicken, but I want beef. Not ground beef though, just nice thick juicy steaks! I have eaten two huge steaks in the past two weeks in one sitting all alone. Well, Tommy gets a few pieces. He loves steak too, but has some problems chewing it thoroughly. It definitely takes care of my protein cravings though. My garlic aversion hasn't changed. I wish it would go away because so many foods have garlic in them. I'm so tired these days that I wish I could get some frozen dinners now and then to make things easier, but I tried that and can't eat anything that looks good. If I eat something that has the smallest hint of garlic I am sick for hours after.

Our Easter wasn't the best either. It started out fine. Saturday night we went to Easter Vigil and Mass, and Tommy was so good. He got tired and had a hard time going down because of all the things to look at once Mass started. He was fascinated with the candles and insisted on holding one himself, and he sang along with the choir for all the responses. The woman next to me said he reminded her of baby Jesus. Wow what a compliment! I replied by saying he isn't nearly as good though. Finally he did go to sleep. I wish the baby had! There is something about Easter Vigil that makes my babies kick me a lot. Tommy jammed up a foot into my ribs the entire time two years ago. I'm not far enough along this time for it to have been rib kicks, but the baby was doing something interesting to my side that was causing a sharp pain. It was almost like a ligament pain, but I knew it was the baby because it was in the wrong place.

When we got home it was after two in the morning. Tommy stayed asleep after the car transfer and Tom put him in bed while I put together his Easter basket. I ate some candy of course and drank some soda (we had given up soda for Lent), and I really regretted that. I felt pretty ill with all that sugar on an empty stomach. When morning came Tom was feeling worse. He had just gotten the start of this cold, the sore throat, on Saturday, and I woke very congested in my chest. Tom got up and hid the eggs while I nursed Tommy and then we watched him find them all. He found his basket first which delayed him a bit, but he got the hang of hunting for eggs and had a blast. He kept calling them "balls" and threw them into his basket. He cracked a few, but not too badly. Tom and I didn't feel up to eating all day so I didn't make Easter dinner. We grazed a little bit throughout the day, but both of us didn't feel like eating anything substantial. I think it's mainly because we can't taste much of anything. My appetite was a bit better today and I think I'll cook the leg of lamb we had planned tomorrow night, or I'll freeze it if I still don't feel like it tomorrow. I was trying to clean as well yesterday because some people were supposed to come see the apartment today. I was so dizzy and light headed that I was unable to clean for more than five minutes at a time without needing ten or more minutes of sitting down and resting between cleaning spurts. I managed to get a lot done, but it was slow going and frustrating. I am fine as long as I'm not picking things up off the floor, but with a toddler that is what the majority of cleaning and decluttering consists of! I think I am dizzy because my ears are full and possibly have some fluid. I don't have pain, but my balance is definitely a little off.

Yet again I feel like I have no pregnancy news, but really there isn't much going on for me at this point except for waiting. I'm trying not to get too stressed about the move and rental house hunting, but as it's getting closer I am worrying more. My parents are coming in less than a month to help out and I can't wait! It will be so nice to have them around. The last time I saw them was for three days right before Thanksgiving when I visited my sister and grandparents. They got into town just before I was leaving. This is the longest stretch that they haven't seen Tommy. I know my dad especially is very worried that Tommy won't remember him, but I don't think it will be a problem. Tommy just adores his grandpa and always seems to warm back up to him quickly. He loves his grandma too, but more in a comfort way, like a second mother and not as much as a playmate. My mom disciplines him a little more than my dad so I'm sure that makes Grandpa seem more desirable as well! They are coming out to help us pack and move. Tom won't be able to take any time off work so Grandpa's job is going to be to entertain Tommy while Grandma and I pack and clean! I'm sure that time spent with Grandpa will make it easier on him when Grandpa is in charge of watching him through my labor as well.

Well that's about all for this week. I know these last two entries have been uncharacteristically short for me, but I really just don't have very much to say and even less that actually relates to the pregnancy.
