Week 34
~ Home Stretch
The baby is not breech! I had my doctor's appointment, and she did an ultrasound to verify the baby's position. I'm pretty sure the baby actually just turned the night before my appointment. I was lying in bed on my right side/stomach propped with a pillow (my favorite sleeping position and the one my chiropractor recommends because my left side needs to stay free because my pelvis is more bound on that side), and I felt an excessive amount of very painful movement. It felt like the baby was trying to make a quick exit! Then I started getting braxton-hicks contractions, but weird ones. They were only in quadrants of my uterus at a time, not the entire uterus (the nurse said this is normal, but I had never felt this before). The baby is not only head down now s/he is also LOA! This little one has been posterior the entire pregnancy! Actually the baby is a little bit left of LOA, almost facing straight to my right side with one foot at my right hip and one jamming up under my right rib with a hip right up top in the middle.
Everything else with the visit went fine and for the first time this pregnancy I didn't lose weight! My weight is the same as it was 2 weeks ago putting me at a net loss of 33 lbs. I expect to gain a little bit each week over the next 6 weeks now. I've just traded my computer chair for a birth ball and am bouncing happily as I type hoping to get this little one engaged in this position now.
My schedule this week has gotten really messed up. It has been hotter again so I have been staying up late to enjoy the cooler night air and sleeping in late. The only problem is every day I stay up later and every day I sleep in later. I've also needed more naps and have no energy to do anything. I am just waiting for nesting to kick in. My back and pelvis are really hurting as well and I am getting a lot of braxton-hicks contractions and sharp vaginal pains. The baby is still floating quite high, but I think that s/he is trying to engage. I have another appointment with the chiropractor this weekend and while we don't really have the money to spend (we're charging the visits and paying credit card minimums right now) I really feel I need to keep going occasionally to maintain this baby's position and my comfort.
My OB wants me to come weekly now, but she will be out of town for a while so my next appointment is in a week and a half. I'm hitting the home stretch here!
