Week 21
~ Getting Rounder

Top o' the morning to you all!

It's been a pretty uneventful week. There really isn't much change to report, except that Milo FINALLY kicked his daddy and his brother last week. His little bones are getting stronger and his kicks are becoming much harder and more frequent. Cody especially was very excited to feel his new little brother squirming around. Our newest pastime is watching him. I lay on my back and the family gathers around and watches the bulges as he pushes his feet and fists out of my belly.

Other than that, things are looking good. In the two-and-a-half weeks since our ultrasound, I have lost a pound, which is very good. At this point, I am supposed to be gaining a pound a week, but I had gained 15 pounds already by my last visit at 19 weeks and the doctors are really looking for a 10-pound weight gain by that point. However, since my thyroid was out of control and I was putting on weight much too fast, it was "normal" and no one was concerned. Obviously, my new dose of hormone has been kicking in, allowing the baby to grow and gain necessary weight while I am losing some. So here I am at 21 weeks, holding steady with a 14-pound weight gain. I'm really hoping to gain only about 10 more pounds. I started out heavier this time than I did in my pregnancy with Cody (and I gained 43 pounds with him!). I only want to gain about 25 this go-round, since they recommend if you are slightly overweight to gain less than the 25-35 you read about.
