Week Sixteen
~ Don't Blink or You'll Miss It!!

The past week has been a blur. I brought my agenda book on vacation with us so I could keep track of what we've been doing while you've been wondering where we are. I'll try to keep it short. Here we go:

Saturday August 21 - We left 1 1/2 hours late. Stopped for lunch at the grand opening of a pet store beside a tourist info centre about 2 hours from home. It was a great deal . . . Hamburger, pop, chips and a goldfish for $2. The money goes to an animal shelter and a food bank. We actually took the fish (3). Stopped at my parents' in Mississauga (5 hours from home) for supper and a visit. My mom took me shopping for some maternity clothes and clothes for the boys. We left from there at about 10:30 p.m. and drove the rest of the way to Shawn's parents' (another 4 hours). We arrived in Woodslee (at the Armaly's) at 2:30 a.m. and still had to set up the camper. What a day!

Sunday 22 - We got about 4 hours sleep and were up at 9:00 a.m. and went to church at 9:30. Shawn's mom is the Reverend and we don't like to miss visiting with all the people there either. It was a wonderful service. We spent the rest of the day resting.

Monday 23 - The kids were up a lot in the night. Fighting half asleep for pillows and sleeping bags. Ever put a playpen in a camper? Enough said. Shawn's brothers and their wives came to dinner along with his uncle John (the same one who came to visit us. He was making his way down there.) and his Oma (we call her Nana as to distinguish her from his mom who is our boys Oma, confused yet?) who lives with Shawn's parents. Shawn's brother Tim and his wife Linda had just discovered, that day, that they were expecting their first child - we were all soooo excited! I'm going to be an Auntie :-).

Tuesday 24 - Time to do laundry. It sure doesn't take a long time for it to pile up. We went to Tim and Linda's house for a visit. We ate pizza and Shawn spent time playing Decent III. Sam cut his finger but he had so much fun chewing on his bandaid that he forgot all about it. We did the "better-move-it-or-the-kids-will-get-it" shuffle and had a good time talking.

Wednesday 25 - Ever feel like a klutz? We got ready to leave today. Within 10 minutes I nearly fell down the basement stairs, knocked pictures off the mantle, and dropped the fish tank (you're not supposed to carry them by the handle when they're full of water, who knew?) The fish survived with minor injuries and the use of a "ziplock" bag and some hockey tape. The baby was fussy, the kids were up in the night. We had to go back to look for Shawn's sunglasses on the way out (only about 5 minutes down the road). We stopped for supper in the rain (at KFC), picked up groceries for camping in the rain and stopped to repack the cooler in the rain. We arrived at Grand Bend (about 3 hours with all the stops) and set up camp.

Thursday 26 - One of the fish died and we let the others go in the lake (Huron). The baby was cranky. We were invaded by ants and it rained.

Friday 27 - We packed up and made the trip to our second camping spot at Sauble Falls (about 5 hours). We stopped for lunch and Sam had french fries for the first time. We also stopped for more groceries. Our campsite was really tiny but we met some friendly people from India (now living in Canada). We took an evening drive along the beach and I had a shower and did a load of laundry.

Saturday 28 - We went to the beach. It was sunny and windy. We set up a tent fly and the playpen. Sam got full of sand and enjoyed waving "bye-bye" at his shadow. Jesse had fun playing on the inflatable raft. Nathan and Shawn went body surfing with the raft on the breakers that were kicking up because of the wind. Things kept flying off the clothesline back at our site because of the wind.

To be continued . . . WHEW!
