Week 10
~ First Doctor Visit

We had our first doctor appointment this week. I forgot how long the first appointment takes. We were there over an hour. First we met with the business office so that we could fill out the information for the birth certificate, then we met with a nurse and she asked a ton of questions (that took about 30 minutes alone), finally we got to meet with the doctor, and after that I had blood taken and gave a urine sample. Obviously meeting with the doctor is the best part. We got to hear our baby's heartbeat, and that baby was moving all over! I told my doctor I was hoping for twins. She did not think that was a good idea and went on to explain all the complication risks. Anyway, I am measuring normal and she only heard one heartbeat so we are not having twins, but we are deliriously excited that we have one healthy baby on the way. My doctor did stress one thing . . . I am NOT allowed to gain as much weight as I did with Audrey. Haha!! I gained 40 pounds with Audrey; I agree this is ridiculous, but honestly I don't know how it even happened. I guess I will need to keep a food journal or something.

When we met with the nurse she reminded me not to have any sushi. I haven't had sushi in forever, but I love it. Ever since she said that, that is all I want! So I looked it up online, found the supplies at a store and I have been making it at home. Obviously without raw fish! Today I made it with cooked shrimp. I am planning on making California rolls (and some variations of that) so that I am not having too much fish in my diet. I was a little overwhelmed at first, but it is actually really easy to do and of course delicious! I am also on a pineapple and strawberry craving kick, but those are both pretty healthy so I am okay with that.

My cousin is also pregnant; she is due 11 days after me. This past weekend she gave me a quease ease. It looks like a lip gloss container, the top pops off and you are supposed to take a few deep breaths of the oils that are in the tube. It smells like mint and something else I can't identify. It is fantastic; it has saved me many times this week from throwing up. I use it as soon as I feel queasy or if I start gagging. It doesn't work every time, but it has helped a lot. It even works awesome when brushing my teeth. I look pretty goofy brushing my teeth while smelling the quease ease, but whatever works!

Until next week,
