This week I had my doctor appointment and he stripped my membranes. He said I was only dilated to 2 cm and that he did the best he could. It didn't hurt so I am not sure if that means it wasn't successful or if I was just talking to the nurse and wasn't paying attention. I am really hoping this will get things started!
The same day I had my membranes stripped I worked at the lutefisk supper at church for my mom. My mom organizes all of the waitresses/waiters and table staff for the event. Every year I waitress for her, and I told her that I would this year too. I think she thought I was nuts, but I told her that walking is good for me and honestly it is the easiest job ever! I was feeling some cramping and what I thought could be contractions. I was sure it would happen that night . . .
The next morning, nothing! Of course, I kept telling myself this was it, I was going to go into labor, but it didn't happen.
My friend Jessica's wedding was on Saturday, so Friday we all got our nails done, set up the reception hall and had the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner. It was a long day. I had been having trouble sleeping so knowing the next day would be even longer (I was her personal attendant) I stopped at the liquor store on the way home and bought a miniature bottle of wine. I measured out 2 ounces, settled into my couch and slept like a baby. I felt a little guilty about having any alcohol at all, but I really needed the rest and I felt so refreshed the next morning.
So Saturday I was bending and walking and moving all day, and I was sure that would get my labor going. In fact we left the reception a little earlier than I felt I should have because I was in pain. Bobby and I went home and again, nothing! Haha
Then Monday came, I was cramping while cleaning the house and I told Bobby to not plan on working all day. I was sure Monday was the day! And of course it wasn't.
The next day was a little more interesting, but I am going to include that in the birth story so stay tuned!!!
