~ Happy New Year!
I can't remember the last time I was so bored on such a big night! For New Year's, Kevin and I went bowling with another couple. It was more challenging than I anticipated. I figured that since my belly really isn't that big yet, maybe it wouldn't influence my swing too much. It's definitely taken on a mind of its own and it's really throwing my center of balance off. Needless to say, I bowled horribly and after just one game I was ready to call it quits and go to bed . . . that was about 10pm. We made it until about 11:45 and I just couldn't stay awake any longer, not to mention that Kevin had definitely 'celebrated' enough by that time, so we went home, watched the ball drop on tv, and went to sleep. Oh so exciting.
How's this for sympathy pains . . . Kevin's the one that drank (a lot) on New Year's Eve yet I was the one who was sick on New Year's Day!? How did I manage to get stuck with the hangover when all I had to drink was water? I'm getting gyped from all angles in this pregnancy. My biggest gripe now is the night sweats. There is nothing I can do to make it cold enough in our bedroom so that I don't have to wake up with wet sheets. We sleep with the ceiling fan on high and the window open. Last night it was -22 here in Alaska and I was STILL too hot all night! Before you all freak out at the thought of us sleeping in such a cold room, it doesn't get that cold inside. The window isn't wide open, just cracked and there's no breeze so our bedroom is not turning into an igloo . . . although that's not a bad idea at this point.
I guess the highlight of this week was getting some wedding details decided. We still have a long way to go but at least we don't have to worry about invitations, the menu or the photographer anymore. My dress finally arrived at the bridal salon back in Michigan, although I won't see it or be able to try it on for a fitting again until I fly back there . . . a week or two before the wedding. I think my next big task will be trying to find some bridesmaid dresses. Since there's next to nothing here in Fairbanks I'll probably end up choosing one online and just hoping it looks ok on my girls.
I have taken more belly pics lately but ever since Kevin 'cleaned' I haven't been able to find the case with all of my cords in it (to download the pics from my camera to my computer). His idea of cleaning is to move all the clutter that is lying around and cram it into a drawer or cabinet simply so it is out of sight. I found some bills in an end table cabinet the other day. The house ends up looking great but it takes me a while to locate everything again.
We haven't made much more progress on the nursery since we bought the crib last week. It would be so much easier to get what we need for the baby if we had a baby shower. Kevin and I are very much on our own out here and I'm sure there's a lot we're not even thinking of buying for the baby because we either don't know we need it or just overlook some things. Even if we know we need something, we're not sure what type or sizes to get. Kevin just learned this week that pacifiers come in different sizes. I can't say I ever gave it much thought either but it didn't surprise me like it did him. I wish we had a baby store out here so we could just walk in and see everything babyish that we need. I think we're going to take a little weekend trip down to Anchorage and get some shopping done there, where there's more civilization.
