Weeks 27 & 28
~ Excitement and Pain
I have been going non-stop for the past two weeks. I started week 27 feeling more exhausted than usual. I guess that's the third trimester saying hello. My daughter was out sick from school this week. She kept telling me her stomach hurt before bed and I didn't know what to do about it--either she needed to poop or she ate too much candy, seeing as it was Halloween. Well, she ended up falling asleep on the couch and my husband and I heard her coughing. He checked on her and she had thrown up everywhere . . . in her sleep. I had to wake her up and get her to the tub while my husband got the steam cleaner. Double duty at it's best. I tucked her into bed and a few hours later she threw up in her bed. I brought her downstairs to sleep on that couch and yep . . . more vomit. Ugh. Well, she was fine the rest of the night so when I woke her for school she seemed well rested and ok. No temp, either. She had some water and ugh . . . more vomit. SOOOO she stayed home from school. She ended up being fine at the end of the day but I took her to the doc for a note anyway. He said it was a bug. Hmmm . . .
Anyway, Wednesday I woke up at 2:00am and couldn't get back to sleep so I cleaned and started some serious organizing. I do that a lot so I'm not sure how there is stuff left to organize. Everything is fairly neat. But I have a touch of OCD and nothing is ever perfect for me. Of course, I'm a Virgo and some blame it on that. Who knows . . . and it doesn't help that sometimes I'm tired and lazy and I swear at those times the house explodes. So when I gain some energy to clean, I start back at square one. Thursday I woke up at 3:30am and couldn't sleep. I even took a Unisom before bed . . . so why in the world was I waking up?! UGH
Week 28 began with my baby shower! It was wonderful! I have attached a pic to this post so you can see me in all my large glory! The dress is billowy so I look a bit wider than I am, but whatever . . . it's a cute dress! I got some great gifts and was blessed to have my friends there to support me.
Tuesday I went in for a doctor visit. I only gained 1.6 lbs this time around instead of the usual 5-10. I've gained just about 30 lbs so far which is fantabulous compared to when I was this far along with my daughter. Of course, I started heavier with this baby so I'm way out of what they want. Thankfully they have kept their comments on my weight to themselves. LOL I got an ultrasound at this visit. Everything looks great and he weighs about 2 lbs 9 oz. Aww! And . . . the best part . . . I got my first full frontal face shot and he has the same chin at my daughter! Cadence was VERY excited to know her brother will look like her.
So the week turned nasty because Wednesday evening I began having pain in my middle back under my shoulder blades. I normally have lower back pain and I get physical therapy on that, but this was different. Thursday night I couldn't sleep at all. I took Tylenol and a warm epsom salt bath and I had NO relief. I even tried the help of an ice pack. I went to the chiropractor out of desperation (he already has my films and my back is just all sorts of whacky . . . so pregnancy makes it more 'fun'). He said it's normal for the vertebrae to be pulled forward and cause pain, so he cracked me back in and I had immediate relief. Also my sacrum was out so he fixed that. I thought WOO HOOO I'm free of pain. Well, later that night the pain came back with a vengeance. I don't know what to do. I'm hurting so badly and I can't figure it out. This is touching on next week (seeing as I'm submitting this late) but I go to physical therapy tomorrow and I'm going to ask what they think it is and how to stop it. I can't just sit on the couch for two months and wait to deliver for the pain to stop. If they don't know what to do, then I need to ask my doc for something. I don't want to be drugged up, but I need some sort of relief.
Anyway, I hope you are all doing well. Feel free to write.
PS . . . The theme for my shower was King of the Jungle. The idea is from Alex the Lion in Madagascar and since baby is Alexander, there's the correlation. Also, the ultrasound is blurry because I took a pic of the pic with my camera phone and uploaded to to facebook. But you can see the chin and then see my daughter's chin.
