Week 30
~ The First Shower

ShowerMy first baby shower went off perfectly! We had it at my Mom's house even though she lives two hours away. It was more of a party than shower. Friends and family came and are all very supportive and excited about my pregnancy. The shower was later in the afternoon, so when everyone finished eating, I opened my presents, then we all went outside for a bon fire! It was so nice to just relax and sit around the fire roasting marshmallows . . . not that I had any. It seems Michael isn't too fond of marshmallows these days. Of course, he isn't too fond of quite a bit of things these days!

It has really started to hit me that Michael doesn't have too much more time in oven, and I am nowhere near as ready as I need to be. While my shower went well, we ended up staying at my Mom's house the entire weekend while my Stepdad worked on my car. The good news is that it is fixed! However, we didn't get anything done at our house. It depresses me to think of the laundry and dishes piled up, and I'm just too tired to do it. I want to have it all done before we leave to go to Richmond, VA next week, but I don't if that will happen or not.

ShowerThe one thing that has really surprised me the most about my pregnancy, is how much Michael moves. If an hour goes by and I don't feel him, I worry. He has to move in his sleep because he moves ALL the time. My sleep is starting to suffer from it. Some nights I'm out like a light, others nights Michael wants all my attention. Maybe demands would be a better word than wants. On a positive note, my heart burn has improved somewhat this week. It is not nearly as bad as it was last week. Last week, I didn't know how on earth I was going to make it through the rest of my pregnancy.

The Braxton-Hicks contractions have also been getting more frequent. I'm making sure that I drink plenty of water so I don't dehydrate, but it doesn't seem to help much. The contractions are not painful at all, but they are a minor irritant. I feel my stomach get extremely hard for a minute and it takes a few minutes for my stomach to loosen back up. My breathing is fine and I can function perfectly while one is happening, it's just annoying more than anything else.

As fast as the time is flying by, sometimes I think that I'm going to be pregnant forever! I'm almost there. I just have to make it a few more weeks! Easier said than done.

Until next week,
~ Sarah
