I thought that these weeks leading up to the ultrasound would be the longest of my pregnancy. However, that has proved not to be the case. They have flown by and once again I have to combine two weeks into one journal entry. It makes me feel like such a slacker. I stand in awe of the journalists who manage to write every single week and have a house full of kids at the same time. Being pregnant with one child at home seems to be enough to do me in!
One of my good friends had her first child a couple of days ago - a boy they named Caden. He is such a cutie pie! He has a bruise on the back of his head where they used the suction on him. He proved to be more stubborn than the doctors were and ended up being delivered by c-section.
Seeing such a small baby has been an eye opener for me. The days of having a small one around who eats every 2-3 hours and wakes up at night every 2-3 hours are just a blur from Michael. It is definitely something that I am not looking forward to. In the past few months we have finally gotten to the days where Michael will sleep 10-12 hours a night without interruption. Part of me wonders how in the world we are going to go through a whole year of not getting a solid night's sleep again. It scares me to death.
Michael just turned 15 months old and is so much fun. I like this age where they can walk and start to talk and make their wants known. I love playing with Michael even though he can be a handful sometimes, especially now that he is learning how to climb! We may have to move him to a regular bed soon as he has almost learned how to make it out of the crib.
My pregnancy symptoms have been pretty mild with one major exception. I happen to have a stomach condition called Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) that most of the time doesn't bother me, maybe once or twice a year. During my pregnancies however, it tends to rear its ugly head quite often. These past two weeks I have had IBS 4 times. Without getting into the gory details, I spend around 2 to 3 hours in the bathroom and am left weak for the rest of the day or night.
Other than that one major complaint, I have really been doing well. Knock-on-wood, I have been sleeping decent and only had the occasional heart burn.
I'm getting more and more excited about finding out the sex of this baby. I can't wait to start decorating the room for him/her!
