Well, we finally found out what we are having. The doctor printed us a picture just so we have proof. It's so blatant that I'm not putting it up in the journal, but I will share with you the profile picture that the doctor printed out for us.
Herman is really excited. He really wanted a boy. I could have gone either way, but wanted to break the cycle of girl and then boy that runs on both sides of our family. For both Herman and I that combination hasn't turned out so well. Neither of us are close to our older/younger sibling of the opposite sex. I know that it will not be the same for our kids though, as they are in a different environment. They start with a fresh slate. I am excited to experience the "boy" experience, as I know that it is very different from raising a girl. I didn't think that I would have so much fun raising a girl, so I am sure that the other way will be another pleasant surprise.
The anatomy scan went well. We didn't do one with Yaheli because we didn't see any need for it. We wouldn't abort a baby even if the ultrasound came up with "problems," so we decided not to do it. It would have cost us over $500 at the time anyway because of my insurance situation. This time around it only cost us $25, so we decided to do it just to make sure that everything is okay. To tell you the truth, now that I have done it I don't think I will do another one with the next one. Here they want you to do two, one at 15 weeks and the second at 22-23 weeks. It's an extremely long and intrusive ultrasound and we have the DVD to show for it . We thought we would do it in case their might be a problem that could be taken care of at birth. The doctor asked us why we would do it if we wouldn't abort anyway and I now agree with him, there's no reason for us to do it again.
The good thing about it was that we saw the baby and we saw that he is okay and we know now that we are having a boy. The next day I already began sorting out boy clothes from Yaheli's clothes. It will be nice to have something other than pink in the dresser.
