The big news this week is that I really failed my 1 hour glucose test. I mean, I REALLY failed it. With Henley I was only over by a few points. With this one I was over 85 points! YIKES! So, I've got the three hour test scheduled and will be very careful over Christmas at my parents to not eat millions of cookies and other tasty treats. This will be very hard as my folks like to show you how much they love you by making you all your favorite foods. Generally this involves a lot of carbs. Tasty, tasty carbs . . .
We are in the last hectic throws of Christmas prep here. Lots of wrapping to do, Henley's Christmas Pageant is on Friday and I need to drop the dog off Friday morning at the vet to get her spayed. We'll be on vacation for a week and a half so it seems like a good time to do it as we'll be around to keep an eye on her. And she'll go into heat in January so I really don't want to deal with that. We've debated for two years about breeding her but I finally was honest with Matt about how truly difficult I think that would be with two kids, work, etc. Golden's tend to have a lot of puppies and I just think it would be way too much to deal with.
We are leaving for my parents on Saturday morning. Hopefully that won't be too much for the dog to handle with her incision - it's a 5 and a half to 6 hour drive but she'll be in her comfy bed and have the whole back of the Yukon to sleep in. I'm probably taking on too much with this one!! I think I have enough stuff to keep Henley occupied for the trip and we are going to bring movies to watch as well. I hate to use them to baby sit but on a long drive it'll keep him happy. One downside is that he doesn't like to wear headphones so we get to hear movies - truly annoying.
We're heading back on Thursday so I can get to my 3 hour glucose test on Friday morning then we'll have until the 2nd to hang around the house and hopefully get started on the nursery. Right now it's being used for storage and junk. I can probably throw away half the stuff that is in there. We'll see how motivated I am. I may want to just lie on the couch for the long weekend!
Henley is in full Christmas excitement right now. He knows the days of the week but he keeps saying that Santa comes 'tomorrow'. So, we're working on that. I think he's disappointed every morning when I tell him that it isn't Christmas yet.
