Week 18 ~ March 9, 2005
~ Back to the Routine
I can't believe what a boring week this has been. There was so much activity the past couple of weeks that the quietness of this week has seemed so out of place. I suppose I've needed a little rest though. I have been getting back into my normal routine since our vacation. Vacations are wonderful but there is something nice and comforting about getting back into a routine. I added an extra afternoon to my work schedule which will be great for buying all the new baby things we need to get but it does take me away from home and time with my husband an extra night every week.
I keep anxiously waiting for some sort of change or activity with the baby but nothing is happening. Every night and a few times during the day I just sit completely still for a while trying to see if I can feel the baby move. I know I should be feeling it soon and it drives me crazy that I can't feel a thing. A lot of times I don't even really feel pregnant. I'm still wearing my regular clothes and am only just now starting to look a little pregnant depending on what I'm wearing. I did buy a couple of new pairs of non-maternity pants and a few shirts so I'll be ready for that in-between pregnant stage that I am starting to get into.
On Monday, the 14th, Sean and I have an ultrasound appointment to see how the baby's doing. We should be able to find out the gender then if we want to. Sean is very adamant that he wants to know if we are having a boy or a girl and my sister has been on pins and needles waiting to find out. But there is something really great about being surprised about the baby's gender on the day of delivery. It also gives mom an extra reason to push the baby out. But I am one of those people who likes to be prepared for everything. And finding out the gender just gives me one more thing that I can already be prepared with. So if the baby is willing I guess we'll be finding out what it will be. I think it's a boy. We'll know next week though.
The weekend after my ultrasound I'm meeting my mom, my sister and her kids and my aunt and her little boy in Grand Rapids. My sister is going to go with me to start registering for baby gifts since she has recent experience in what sort of things I'll need. I can't wait to be with my family again; I haven't seen them since Christmas.
On a special note... Thank you to every one who has been reading my journals and has emailed me. I love getting your emails and the information and support you've given to me has really been great. It's also been wonderful to know more about the people who are getting to know me through my journals. Thank you.
