Stacie's Pregnancy Journal

Week 33
~ I'm Next!!

Vivian had her baby, Congrats V. So that means, with a due date of June 4th, I am technically the next journal writer in line to have her baby. Another sign that D-day (Delivery day) is getting closer is my milk. The carton of milk I bought this week has an expiration date of June 5th, the day AFTER my official due date. We buy organic milk and it has a very long expiration date but still, the arrival of baby brother is approaching and I can't wait for him to get here. I'm feeling good, better than I have in a very long time. So it's not an “I'm sick of being pregnant” thing. I'm just ready to get the baby here and have our lives start to settle into a new type of routine. I'm anxious to meet him and have him become a part of our family in a real way, rather than an abstract one.

This week has been pretty boring. Hannah and I picked up the double stroller on Thursday. It's in great condition and works well. The previous owner even had the instruction manuals that came with it! I have to check our car seat in it and make sure it fits well and attaches to the stroller safely, there's no reason it shouldn't. I'm going to clean it up and wipe it down and get it ready for occupancy. I can't believe I only paid $31 dollars for it, with the infant car seat. It's a $230 unit new and with the condition it is in, I REALLY got a bargain. I'm amazed at how lucky I was. Maybe I should have bought a lottery ticket this week too.

At the end of my last journal entry I mentioned that Sean and I need to do some major work on cleaning and organizing our house. I am happy to report that we actually made a lot of progress this past weekend. On Saturday Sean and his dad continued work on the bathroom. I really think it will be finished before this baby gets here. There are some paint touch ups that need to be completed and some caulking. Sean needs to put up the shower curtain. Then I will scrub the bathroom again and we can call it good. All I can say is "It's about time!" We've been working on this project for so long, over 2 years, and it really is time that it was finished.

On Sunday we cleaned and organized the main floor. There is still a long "To Do" list of things that need to be accomplished before the baby comes but having the house in a good order of appearance in general is a good start. One thing that's been on my list for a long time is curtains. Our house has virtually no curtains upstairs. It's not a huge deal because people can't really see in our windows because of all the trees we have but it can be quite irritating when trying to sleep. When Hannah was born I actually taped construction paper over the window in our bedroom to block out the light. I am really hoping to have some kind of curtains or blinds up before this little one is born so we don't have to go the construction paper route again; it's quite tacky.

On Monday Hannah and I made it back to the Y. It's the first time we've been in a very long time, since before Christmas maybe. We went for the morning session of open swim. There were only about 5 other people in the pool but Hannah really enjoyed it. She loves the water and since there was a pool basketball to play with as well, she was in seventh heaven. I need to find Hannah a life jacket though. The pool only allows coast guard approved flotation devices in the pool and it's too much work for me to hold and carry her around for an hour, even in the water. I'm really looking forward to a time when Hannah is old enough for T-ball and ballet classes. I think she'll have so much fun with the other kids and being a part of a class like that. Or maybe I'm just looking forward to reliving my childhood through her.

This has been a much shorter journal entry than usual. Next week should be exciting. I have another OB appointment next week so hopefully I'll have more to say about the baby then. Sean and I still haven't discussed names yet. I don't think we'll ever get to it. I'm the mom though so I guess if we never talk about it I can just pick what ever I want. I think Daniel is a nice name, or maybe Andrew. Hmmm.
