I am a naturally impatient person. Although probably not a desirable personality trait, it gets stuff done. That, however, does not apply to this situation. Impatience doesn't help me here. I am, therefore, trying to learn the beauty in waiting.
Last month I did not take a single pregnancy test. This may seem like a small triumph, but considering the month before I could've built a small tower out of negative pregnancy sticks, it is certainly progress. Even victory. Five months in, I'll take the ones I can get.
Overall it's been a great month. We found a home for the cat! Both the cat and her new owner are very happy with each other, and I couldn't ask for anything more. It's great to know it's all worked out in the end. Also, my grandmother came to visit. It was so nice to see her again, and watch her with the kids. She was such a big part of my life while I was growing up, it's good to see it extended in some small way to my children.
On the school front, it's going wonderfully. Jeffery is loving kindergarten. We had curriculum night for his school last week. It was very informative, and we got to have an in-depth conversation with his teacher. Apparently math is his strong point, he has a great vocabulary, and a bit sarcastic. He gets that last part from his mommy . The math I cannot claim. We did have him miss a day of school last week to go on one of Owen's preschool fieldtrips. Sim helped chaperone and they all went to the apple orchard. I had to work that day, but did enjoy an apple crumb pie later!
Speaking of work, that's been stressful lately. I just don't enjoy it anymore. I desperately wish I could stay home part-time with the kids but the financial situation just doesn't allow it. Besides, I know I should be grateful that we have the schedule arranged such that Owen only goes to childcare a couple days a week. I just wish it was me that was home with them.
I have a few great things to look forward to; Jeffery turns 6 at the end of October, and we're having a bowling birthday party for him. I've been working on the invitations this weekend. In November my parents are coming to visit from Wisconsin. They haven't been to my house in a year and a half.
I hope everyone has had a great month, and a good one to come. I will be practicing patience in the month ahead.
