Hey everyone, first let me start by apologizing for not writing in the last 5 weeks. I have had some computer issues here at home, and haven't been able to update everyone. I will try and catch you up, and should be able to get back into the swing of things from here on out.
The third trimester has been a good one so far. I started going to the doctor every two weeks starting at 30 weeks, and everything seems to be going well. I have gained a total of 40lbs to date, but the doctor tells me that I have done great this whole pregnancy, so I am not complaining. I might be complaining when I am trying to lose the weight . . . but that we will worry about then.
My last appointment was a week ago, and we had a sonogram. Well, at 32 weeks, the baby weighed 5lbs 3oz, and was measuring 3 weeks ahead. (According to all the baby books, a 32 week baby should weigh almost 4lbs) Of course, this was exciting and scary all at the same time, and has made me crazy wondering if this baby will come early, or if I am just going to have a very big baby. This is something that we won't know until the baby gets here I guess! The doctor was surprised by these measurements, because every time he has measured my uterus, it has measured just a hair small. Who knows? Needless to say, he is going to do another sonogram at 36 weeks to check on the baby again, and he may or may not change my due date due to what he sees.
I have been feeling really good, just getting bigger, and finding it harder to breathe some days. I have been having hot flashes like they are going out of style, and finally understand what my mother and mother in law have been suffering with for the past few years! I have been having Braxton Hicks Contractions for the past couple of weeks, and they seem to come more frequently as time goes by. The doctor says this is nothing to be concerned about, so I don't worry too much. Guess it is just my body getting ready!
Ethan and I have started watching "Laugh and Learn about Childbirth," a Lamaze video that has been very informative. It is a six part video that teaches what to look for in childbirth, and some breathing techniques. If any of you are planning a natural labor, I highly recommend this video. It has already eased some of my fears!
We did attend the local epidural class. Here, if you want an epidural, but haven't been to the class, you are out of luck. So, just to be on the safe side, we went to the class, but it only sealed our reasoning for wanting to try and have natural childbirth.
I have had all of my baby showers, except the one that work will give me on December 4th. We have the nursery done, the crib ready to go, and if the baby were to come tomorrow, we would be ready. I say ready, but I don't know if you are ever REALLY ready.
Well, I hope everyone is doing well, and again I apologize for the lapse in time. I'll keep y'all posted on the progress. I go back to the doctor next week, so maybe I'll have some news to share. I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving!
