Susan's Pregnancy After Loss Journal

Week 29 ~ December 29, 2005
~ Houston We Have an Induction Date

I have a terrible cold this week - complete with sneezing, coughing, congestion, stuffy ears and sore throat. The doctor offered antibiotics, but after taking them for strep throat a couple weeks ago, I'd rather suffer with the cold. The side effects were horrible. Besides, I didn't think antibiotics did anything for a cold. Anyway, I said no thanks. I'm taking Sudafed or Claritin-D during the day and Benadryl at night. I also got one of those Vicks Plug-ins that give off menthol vapors and plugged it in next to my bed. Seems to work ok - helped me breathe a little better.

Christmas was very nice. I got lots of great things. My favorite gifts were a pair of white gold hoop earrings and a Food Saver. Did you know you can shrink wrap and freeze pretty much anything? I made a whole weeks worth of Egg McMuffins and put them in the freezer, so I can just grab one on the way out the door and put the little frozen packet in the microwave when I get to work. No more getting sick if I don't have time to fix something or stop on the way. I am very excited about this new toy. My least favorite gift was some Cheese - yes that's right an immediate family member gave me one of those cheese and sausage gift packs and not even a nice one it only had 2 cheeses and 2 sausages. Every year this person and I ALWAYS do something REALLY nice for one another so I was totally shocked. I gave her a very nice outfit with corduroy pants, a sweater vest and long sleeve collared shirt for her son, an ornament engraved with her name and the names of her husband, her son and mother in law who lives with them, some pajamas for herself with cookie monster on them because she loves cookie monster, and all 4 ornaments in the new Rudolph collection that came out this year. And I also did stocking gifts for her as we always do each year. I did baby wipes, face cleanser wipes for her and some candy. And I got cheese. I know she's not hurting for money, so I am guessing it's pretty much just a combination of thoughtlessness and laziness. Humph!!

In the aches and pains department this week we have pain in the upper abdomen, right between my ribs and the return of nausea in the morning - BOOOO!! Legs and back are doing ok thank goodness.

We had a doctor appointment this week and aside from me being so sick from the cold I could barely sit up, everything else went pretty well. The heartbeat was good and I measured well and I did not gain any weight this month. From here we'll have a couple 2 week appointments and then go to weekly appointments to include either a Non-Stress Test or ultrasound. The Non-Stress Test looks fun. They just sit you it a huge recliner and attach a monitor and let you watch TV for an hour. I can handle that. Although getting to see the baby in ultrasound is fun too. We also found out that we will probably be induced Thursday February 23 (AS IN 8 WEEKS FROM TODAY) if the amnio shows mature lungs. If the amnio results take too long though we might have to go to February 26 because they don't do inductions on Friday or Saturday.

Keeping it short and sweet this week. I'm feeling pretty yucky from this cold and need to get home and lay down, so I will leave you for now. I hope you have a very Happy New Year!!!
