Week 15 - June 4, 2006
~ (Almost) Half Way There!

When I left off from last week, I was due to visit the doctor again for my 14 week checkup. Everything went well -- the highlight was that my daughter, Cassie, got to hear the heartbeat and the doctor let her work the doppler device all by herself (with the doctor guiding it to the right spot). That helped end the week on a high note. Doctor does want me to watch my weight gain; I had gone up about six pounds from my last visit at 10 weeks (where we saw the baby via ultrasound) and he has encouraged me to exercise more, which I'm trying to do. He says at this point, I should be gaining around a 1/2 pound per week. I did step up the activity (walking and some stretch/weight training), so I hope it's paying off.

He didn't seem too concerned about the mood swings. I got scared that it may have been the evil "depression" rearing its ugly head again. He seems to think that it will dissipate in the next few weeks (I am PRAYING it does). Dear husband has been a bit better about it, to some degree, but he's only human. The next visit's going to be the big one -- the detailed ultrasound where we will finally (hopefully) know if it's a boy or girl. I suspect it's a boy -- not sure why, just do. But, there's a part of me that wouldn't mind another girl. First off, I'm more familiar with them, and I still have many "girly" things from when Cassie was little that I could use. Second, every single child that's been born at my workplace and at my husband's has been a boy. I'm really hoping we can be the ones to break the "Y" chromosone stretch!

Not really much going on this week. Started to feel more tired again and I had an excruciatingly painful migraine a few days ago. It's been a while since I had one of those, one so bad that I had to lay down twice and wait for it to go away -- extra strength Tylenol can only do so much!

14 weeksThis time next week, Cassie will be finished with third grade (sigh). Where does the time go? And then she'll be off to visit my mom and stepdad for a week at their new home in Florida. I'm heading down there myself for a "mini" vacation the following week -- can't wait! I'm still too nervous to let her fly by herself, so my mom is flying up here and then flying back down with her. Otherwise, I really couldn't see her flying by herself this young (guess I'm a bit overprotective, but I come by it honestly).

Well, that's about all for this week. Before I close out, here's a picture taken on Memorial Day of my ever-expanding belly. You'd think by the looks of it I'm carrying twins or something!
