Week 25 ~ August 11, 2006
~ A (Very Welcome) Break from the Heat
It's been a much, much cooler week, and combine that with the fact that I had a shorter work week (thanks to vacation), it's been a much easier week on all fronts. Even the swelling in my ankles has decreased! Work has been busy, which has helped make the week go by faster, since I truly live for weekends but also because it helps (for me) to stay busy, so the time until I see Cassie again arrives a bit sooner.
No real news here this week, barring the thwarted terrorist plot, which of course, dominated much of our news coverage at work. Sometimes I think about this world, and how things were so amazingly different, just five short years ago at this time. A terrorist attack was certainly the last thing on my mind, or likely anyone else's. Bill and I first started dating this time five years ago, and about a month later, our world . . . and everyone else's . . . changed, and while we've had many happy times since then, it's sad that none of us can ever go back to that time before 9/11. My own daughter, who was in preschool at the time, can still remember me telling her what happened. It was the hardest thing I think I've ever had to do, and I still get teary-eyed thinking about it.
I can only hope that the world that she is in, as well as this little one, will be one that still harbors goodwill - I have to believe that the world is not completely evil, that beauty and kindness remain, and that many still share that belief. Call it faith, but that's one of many things that keeps me going.
Little one here is starting to kick me more, and his/her home is getting bigger, to the point where I'm getting the same indigestion I got with Cassie nine years ago. Let's just say the Tums canister is a handy companion (both at home and at work)! The ankle swelling isn't as bad this week, mostly due (I think) to the cooler temperatures. Still drinking a lot of water, but of course, that means more and more trips to the bathroom -- as if I wasn't visiting it enough already !
Well, that's all for this week. Next week puts me closer to seeing my "big" girl again -- can't wait!
