~ Meet Terzah
Hello! My name is Terzah, and my husband's name is Dan. Dan is a 35-year-old physics grad student, and I am a 33-year-old public librarian. We have no kids and have been married for a little over a year. Our four-year courtship included numerous adventures, including my stint in the Peace Corps in Far East Russia (where Dan visited me).
Dan and I went to the same university but didn't know each other there. Before we met at a mutual friend's wedding in 2001, we lived peripatetic lives. I was a journalist in New York City and flew all over the place, Dan a computer programmer who once took four months off to take a road trip to visit family and friends around the country. We both enjoy sports; I am a runner of average ability (last November I finished the NY Marathon), and Dan runs and plays Ultimate Frisbee. We still love to travel.
But our latest adventure is going to be different: Not only am I pregnant, I am pregnant with twins. Yes, twins! Both of us have always wanted kids. Both of us, because we love our siblings so much, have always wanted two kids. But we never dreamed that we would have two at once.
Some things are certain. There will be very little traveling in our near future (the next five years maybe???). For me, there will also be no running for the next several months. In fact, a forklift might be required to move me around before these kids are born. Dan will have to work on his PhD amid overnight feedings and the toilet training of two kids at once. I'm not sure at all what direction my career, which is still new to me, will take. Yes, our lives are about to change, in a REALLY big way. But we both believe that despite difficult times ahead, the changes are going to be happy ones.
