Week Twenty-Two ~ Vacation Week Well, we made it safe and sound to my parents' house in Virginia. I had to stop every two hours or so to get out and stretch. Of course our dog, Harley, needed to get out and walk too. It wasn't too bad. We made the trip in about nine hours so I didn't throw us to far off schedule. It's been a very relaxing week. Sleeping, resting, eating and no worries. Of course I woke up before 8:00 am almost every morning when I really wanted to sleep a little longer. My back hasn't bothered me much lately because I've stopped trying to sleep on my left side. I spoke to Dr. H on my last visit and he said that it was okay to sleep on my right side. ADVERTISEMENT Speaking of my last visit, I went the day before our trip. Dr H is being very cautious, I think, because he ordered a few new tests. I had to be put on a monitor for 30 minutes to make sure that I wasn't having any contractions and then they gave me a test to bring home. The test was a saliva test that is supposed to determine preterm labor. I'm not sure how this works, but I had to spit in a test tube and have Federal Express pick it up and take it to some lab in California. I'll call when I get back to Tennessee to see what the results were. I'm glad that Dr H is so aware of my situation and is testing as early as he can for possible danger signs. They also tested for protein and sugar and found nothing. I got on the scales, and it was confirmed. I gained 5 pounds! I think it will be higher when I go back thanks to Mom and Dad's home cooking. My next appointment is scheduled for December 4 so we'll see. I definitely think I'm showing more now. We've finally decided on the names of our babies. We had plenty of time to discuss it on the way to Virginia! Our son will be named Jacob Cecil Edmonds and our daughter will be named Rachel Neely Edmonds. It's amazing how difficult it can be to pick out two names! I like the fact that we are using family names for both of our children. Cecil is from Larry's deceased Grandfather, and Neely was my Mom's maiden name before she was adopted as a small child. I'm looking forward to our baby shower and Thanksgiving Day so that I can see my entire family at once. It's always a bit of a mad house, but it wouldn't be the same if it weren't. Until then, I'll just enjoy the rest and relaxation of vacation. I've earned it!
