Tracy's Multiples Pregnancy Journal ~ a story of pregnancy after infertility

Week Twenty-Three
~ Back to Reality!

I'm back at work today after having a great restful vacation. We didn't do much or go many places. Instead we spent as much time as possible with family. We really enjoyed spending time with my four-year-old nephew, Trevor, as well. He sure has grown a lot since we saw him in May of this year. I can't imagine having two children his age with as much energy as he has. We're going to have our hands full!

I think Larry and I both feel like we've recharged our batteries and are ready for the next few months before the babies arrive. Being at home (Virginia) and talking about the twins so much has made it seem more like a reality. Not that my growing stomach wouldn't! We've got a lot to do to get ready for their arrival. We have to clean out our spare bedroom and make room. I'd also like to paint that room and put up some Classic Pooh wallpaper border. We got a lot of nice things for our first official baby shower . . . a baby swing, double stroller, Classic Pooh bag and accessories, bath sets, etc. My parents gave us money to put towards furniture or whatever we need. I think I'll put that money away until after the other showers and see what we need. Larry's parents have said they'll pay for the cribs, so we wait and see what's left to buy.

The babies seem to be a lot more active lately. I think I am starting to feel kicking now. It's actually more like a pluck instead of kick. I'm looking forward to the next ultrasound when I can really see what changes have taken place and how big they are now. I can't wear anything but maternity clothes now and am looking more and more pregnant every day. I think I've even started to waddle a little! One thing really strange is that my voice has seemed to change. It sounds almost like I'm losing my voice or hoarse at times. My voice cracks like a young boy's going through puberty! Weird! I knew pregnancy can do strange things to your body but I didn't think that was one of them.

We had a great week, but it's nice to be home too. Of course, I'll be swamped at work for the next few days just catching up on paperwork and projects.
