I found out that I was pregnant in December of 1997. I had a really easy pregnancy. Aaron was due on June 26, 1998. Well, that day came and went with no baby born. I wasn't really worried since my doctor said that most first born baby's were late.
On July 3, I woke up with an ache in my lower back. I didn't really pay attention to it since it wasn't really bothering me. My friend Jamie and I decided to go baby shopping (she was also pregnant at this time). We spent the day shopping and went out to dinner.
At approximately 8 P.M. that night, we headed out to the river to watch a fire works display put on by a friend. As we started the 1/2 mile walk to the river, I told Jamie that I didn't feel right. We decided to skip the fireworks and went to the park for a while. After we got to the park, we started to talk to a couple of friends that were there.
At approximately 9 P.M. we decided to head home. It was at that point we realized that the car keys were locked in the car. As we waited for the police chief to show up, I had my first contraction. As the police chief was unlocking the door, I went in to hard labor. He tried to convince me that I was in false labor, but we knew otherwise.
I arrived at the hospital at 11 P.M. that night and at 1 A.M. I was given medicine for the pain. I wasn't allowed out of bed due my high blood pressure and the beginning stages of toxemia.
I woke up at 3:30 A.M. and was told that my water broke but he was not dropping. I was told that I was going to have an emergency c-section since Aaron was going into fetal heart distress.
My precious baby boy was born at 5:57 A.M. on July 4, 1998. He weighed 8.13 pounds and was 22 inches long. He was so big! There was meconium present when he was born so they kept him crying for two hours to be sure he didn't inhale any. We stayed in the hospital for one week since I came down with a lung infection.
Coincidentally, my best friend Jamie had a bouncing baby boy on December 25, 1998. We find it surprising that best friends had baby boys on holidays.
